Origin of Easter festival dates back to the Pagan times. It is celebrated to honor the Jesus’ return to life. There are many legends associated with Easter history. One of the Easter story says, that the very name Easter has been derived from Eostre, who was the Anglo Saxon Goddess of spring. Thus, it is also said that the Easter celebration is actually dedicated to the refreshing spring season. This Pagan holiday, Easter is one of the principal religious festivals of Christians. It was earlier addressed as the festivity of Eostre that always occurred during the period of vernal equinox, when the ratio of day to night was exactly the same.
But some of the legends say, that this festival Easter actually owes its origin to the Hebrew tradition, instead of the Christian tradition. According to the Hebrew lunar calendar, it falls in the first month also known as ‘Nisan’. According to Hebrew tradition, the reason behind its celebration is that, it was during this period, that Israel after having suffered for 300 years finally got rescued from the bondage of Egypt. But in all the legends, one thing that is emphasized is that, Easter is a grand holiday that is celebrated to glorify the victory of life over death and light over darkness.

I made a new blog professor, so I hope this time my comment about your post is sent.Well, I'm Catholic since I was born, and although believed iin the true meaning of Easter, I think it trivializes the world tooo much. It's a very special day but as soon as Christmas is associated with the present, to celebrate Easter that was for him, just being totally dedicated to the receipts of chocolate eggs. Somethiiing that is nooot bad, but iit takes the whole essence of the true meaning.
kisses, Tanara
I am catholic and easter is very important for us, because how you said is a celebration of life over death and light on the darkness. And my favorite day in the holy week is the good friday, because means a victory for the catholics. But I think that the meaning of easter changed with the centuries, now a days the peoples likes to get a easter eggs and forgotten many things.
Cool, I did not know of some legends as that the name Easter was derived from Eostre, who was the Anglo Saxon goddess of spring. And that the Easter bunny owes its origin to the goddess Eostre, who was always seen with her bunny. This bunny had laid the first colored eggs. Intersting.
In my religion I learned that Easter was the release of the Jewish people from Egypt.
I like Easter, of Easter eggs...xD, but also admire the meanings, and i know the importance.
In my opinion, actually, very people forget the true meaning of easter, the Jesus return to life, and think only in easter eggs.
So,this year my birthday is in easter, give me a easter egg :D
Uhuul Raíssaaa!! \o/\o/
I am Catholic and for me the Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, but I don't follow the traditionals costumes ( as is fasting and etc. ). ... I like to watch the Via Sacra (it's interesting) and eat the Easter eggs!
But, as the others said, the true meaning of Easter is being forgotten. :]
The text is quite interesting. I am evangelical since I was born and I know the true meaning of Easter, but today many people do not really know, and do not give as much value on it. I think wrong, actually the most important Easter is to honor Jesus. Oh then, could the individual wills. So anyone who does not like huge chocolate egg. I love it.
Many peoples think the Easter is only to get Easter eggs. End they forget to celebrate the true Easter's meaning...
...the Jesus Cristo's resurrection!
interesting, i didn't knew that easter was based on pagan traditions.
I thought very nice how our tradicions can be based on other old cultures and religions.
in this date all people eat easter eggs but the true meaning people forget
jesus return ;]
bye .
The real meaning of Easter is the return of Jesus, but people aways forget this. So many people just think about chocolate and all this stuff.. I have to admit that Easter without chocolate don't seems Easter. I loove chocolate and I can't see this holiday without them !
I always knew the real meaning of Easter because I'm Catholic and I always go to the church in these important days. I think Easter is renovation too...
